Main research areas
In the Department of Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, research is conducted on the synthesis of new compounds with potential biological activity. The main research directions are to obtain compounds with immunotropic, anticancer, antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity. The works conducted at the Department focus on obtaining new compounds and derivatives of various heterocyclic systems such as isoxazole, isothiazole, pyrazole, pyrimidine, imidazole, naphthyridine, carbazole and its pyridine derivatives. Research is also carried out on the correlation between the structure and biological activity of the obtained derivatives.

Completed research projects:
 1) Assessment of the reactivity of 5-amino-3-methyl-4-isoxazole carboxylic acid hydrazide with various condensing agents leading to the formation of new isoxazole derivatives with expected immunomodulatory activity.
2) Synthesis of new derivatives of nitroazoles and nitrodiazoles and assessment of their oxidation-reduction potential.
3) Assessment of the anticancer potential of nitroheterocyclic Pt(II) complexes in mouse models of lung, breast and ovarian cancers.
4) Synthesis and biological studies of new isoxazole derivatives with expected immunorestitution properties.
5) Synthesis and biological studies of new isothiazole derivatives with expected anticancer properties.

The Department of Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology conducts classes for students of Pharmacy, Medical Analytics and Dietetics.
