Science Laboratory

The Clinical Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology conducts teaching,
research and clinical activities in the area of gastrointestinal diseases.
Our team is made up of gastroenterologists, specialists in internal
medicine, transplant specialists and young doctors in specialisation training. Our
unit is staffed by people with expert skills in gastrointestinal endoscopy
and echoendoscopy. The Clinical Department is also distinguished
from other centres in Poland by its gastrointestinal motility laboratory, which performs tests of
oesophageal motility, anorectal motility and intraoesophageal pH-metry.
Topics of ongoing research focus on inflammatory bowel
diseases and visceral-brain interaction disorders. Research projects are being initiated
related to the implementation of gastric cancer screening (project within the
European Union programme EU4Health “Towards gastric cancer screening implementation
in the European Union” with acronym TOGAS), pancreatic and liver diseases. The unit's
employees are authors of numerous scientific publications, co-authors of management guidelines
for various gastrointestinal diseases and lecturers at
national conferences.
We conduct classes in internal medicine
and dietetics for medical and English Division students, as well as classes in nutrition in gastrointestinal diseases for dietetics students of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
