Recruitment for the BUDDY Programme for the Academic Year 2024/2025!

We are pleased to announce the start of the recruitment for the BUDDY Programme for the academic year 2024/2025.

Who is a BUDDY?

A BUDDY is a guardian/mentor for a student coming from a partner university to study at UMW. Their main goal is to assist the international student in adjusting to the new environment, especially in the first days after arrival.

 The responsibilities of a Buddy include:

1. Email contact with the assigned student (introduce yourself as his/her Erasmus Buddy).

2. Picking them up from the airport/station.

3. Helping them reach the dormitory.

4. Assisting in finding accommodation.

5. Showing them around the city, university, and interesting places.

6. Helping with the residence legalization at the provincial office.

7. Assisting in obtaining an Urban Card.

8. Helping with arranging the class schedule.

9. Assisting in setting up an account on the virtual university.

10. Assisting at the medical clinic – scheduling an appointment with a GP or specialist.

Why is it worth becoming a BUDDY?

Being a mentor for an Erasmus+ student is a unique opportunity to:

1. Participate in meetings organized for Erasmus+ students.

2. Learn about other cultures.

3. Improve a foreign language.

4. Take part in trips organized for Erasmus students (2 people).

5. Earn an additional point when applying for studies or internships (the point will be awarded only after completing at least 4 Buddy tasks from the above list). The awarded point can only be used once. To obtain the point, you need to submit a completed task form - Buddy.

How to become a BUDDY?

RECRUITMENT LASTS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 20^th, 2024.

One Buddy can only help one international student.
