Scientific cooperation
Haematology is a rapidly growing branch of medicine encompassing both the clinical(haematology and oncohaematology) and the laboratory research (cytology, flow cytometry, genetic testing). Due to the continuous development of therapies, especially in oncohaematology, clinical research plays a special role in haematology.
During the course, our students will learn to diagnose haematological malignancies, become familiar with haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T therapy, explore coagulation disorders and immunology. In addition, we will introduce students to clinical research and the intricacies of modern molecular diagnostics.
In our Department, we conduct classes for students of the Faculty of Medicine in the fifth year and the sixth year. These classes are divided into theoretical part (lectures, seminars) and practical part (classes in the medical simulation centre and in the clinic in patient rooms or in the outpatient clinic). In addition, we encourage students to participate in medical on-call duties - for this purpose, please contact the teaching assistant professor by e-mail (marta.sobas@umw.edu.pl). We pay particular attention to preparing our students for the Medical Final Examination (LEK).
With a view to a high level of student teaching, we are constantly working to modernise didactics. Therefore, classes in haematology are not only conducted in patient rooms, but also in the Medical Simulation Centre (including preparation for the OSCE exam). In addition, for the safety of our patients and to meet students' expectations, we have introduced classes using multimedia equipment (tablets, AR RealWear NAVIGATOR 500 glasses). This equipment enables us to conduct classes in parallel reality with real patients isolated due to immune disorders. We are also working on multimedia materials for our students (these will be posted on the Teams platform).
