The 32nd finale of the WOŚP is approaching

Recruitment of volunteers for the headquarters of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, which operates at the Medical University of Wroclaw, has begun. Students, doctoral students and university employees are invited to play together. Applications can be sent until December 3.

The 32nd finale of the WOŚP will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024, under the slogan "Lungs after the pandemic. We play for children and adults," and the funds raised will be used to purchase equipment for the diagnosis, monitoring and rehabilitation of patients in pulmonology wards. There are 64 such centers across Poland, including 15 pediatric ones.

The goal of the campaign, Jurek Owsiak explains, was set after consultation with the Polish Society of Pediatric Pneumonology, which drew attention to the serious health consequences of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic - both among children and adults. The situation is exacerbated, and thus increases the number of people with respiratory diseases, by the country's poor air quality. The Foundation also wants to support patients with cystic fibrosis, which affects some 1,800 people in Poland.
 The WOŚP Foundation, as part of the "Everything's OK Here!" collection, plans to buy equipment used for:

• Diagnostic imaging (including MRIs and ultrasound machines),
• functional diagnostics (including polysomnographs and portable spirometers),
• endoscopic diagnostics (including bronchoscopy systems for endobronchial navigation and bronchoscopes),
• rehabilitation - pulmonary rehabilitation equipment used in the treatment of lung transplant patients,
• Thoracic surgery (including electrocoagulation and cryosonde systems).

So far, the WOŚP has raised nearly PLN 2 billion and bought some 71,000 devices. The last collection - in January 2023. - was conducted in support of the fight against sepsis, and thanks to the commitment of staffs and supporters, more than 243 million zlotys were raised.
