Natalia Sauer researcher of choice

Among the six women recognised this year for their research projects in the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women and Science scholarship programme was Natalia Sauer from UMW. The UMW Faculty of Pharmacy graduate was awarded in the MSc category, receiving a scholarship of PLN 25,000.

"The effect of nanosecond electrical pulses on the expression of the surface markers LAG-3 and PD-1 on pigmented (A375) and non-pigmented (C32) melanoma cells" - is the topic of Natalia Sauer's award-winning research paper. The achievements of our graduate student are presented by the organiser as follows:

"Natalia Sauer studied pharmacy at the Medical University of Wrocław, where she carried out her first research projects. The results of her work have been recognised by major Polish institutions. She is the author and implementer of many scientific grants, including a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education allowing research into modern anti-cancer therapies. She is also a recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Health for significant achievements in science. Natalia Sauer is the author and co-author of 21 scientific articles. She has presented her research at 20 scientific conferences, including international platforms such as the Deuel Conference on Lipids in the United States.  She has completed numerous international training courses and completed an internship in modern anticancer therapies and the effects of ultrasound on cancer. She currently works in Wrocław, Poland, taking part in the design and conduct of clinical trials" (source:www.lorealdlakobietinauki.pl/)

The L'Oréal UNESCO Fellowship Programme for Women and Science supports the achievements of women conducting advanced research in the life sciences. Its aim is to promote the scientific achievements of talented female researchers, encourage them to continue their work aimed at advancing science and provide financial support.

In Poland, the programme has been running since 2001. It is organised by L'Oréal Poland together with the Polish Committee for UNESCO, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the UN Global Compact Network Poland.
