UMW at IGF Poland 2023 Digital Summit

Wroclaw Medical University will be present at the IGF Poland 2023 Digital Summit, which will begin on Wednesday, October 4, at the Wroclaw Congress Center at the Centennial Hall (1 Wystawowa Street). The university has prepared a session entitled. "Technology in the Service of Health." In addition, during the event it will be possible to visit the Doctoral School's booth and discuss the possibility of pursuing implementation doctorates at UMW.

The IGF Poland 2023 Digital Summit is an event on the future of the global network and digital space. The meeting will discuss, among other things, how the latest digital technologies are serving society, what opportunities and challenges the modern Internet creates for humans, and how the law governing the Internet and digital space is being developed. Topics on artificial intelligence, new trends in the digital space, as well as cyber security and sustainable digital development will also be discussed. IGF Poland 2023 will be attended by representatives of business, public administration, NGOs, academia, technical organizations and others.

The Digital Summit program includes 23 sessions as well as workshops and side events. The sessions were selected from dozens of submissions sent in an open call and qualified by the IGF Poland Program Council. One of them is, submitted by the Medical University of Wroclaw, a session entitled. "Technology in the Service of Health."

UMW session: technology in the service of health (Room A, 10:30 am).

The session will address areas of cooperation with the university in the context of creating technologies in the area of e-health/data science to support diagnostics, doctor-patient communication, non-invasive monitoring of vital signs, or to support the health of employees whose daily activities may cause injuries or strains. Participants in the meeting will answer the questions: what kind of employees coming from the medical school are innovation developers looking for? What competencies are desired? What can be done together and who will benefit?

Session with panelist from UMW: The role of data in the age of new technologies (Room B, 12:10 pm)

The session, to be attended by Dr. Agnieszka Siennicka of the UMW Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology, will focus on how data quality affects the economy, society and state activities in the era of new technology development. Its participants will discuss: What challenges are generated by the development of new technologies? Which categories of data have the greatest potential for reuse? What should be paid attention to when sharing data so that it has real value for digital technologies? What does the regulatory layer have to say about this?

UMW stand - Doctoral School (implementation doctorates)

At the Wrocław Congress Center it will also be possible to visit the stand of the UMW Doctoral School, whose office has prepared materials on implementation PhDs. Participants of the summit - including representatives of companies that have the opportunity to implement solutions developed as part of their PhDs - will receive detailed information on the idea and the conditions to be met in order to enter into such a form of cooperation with the university.

Participation in the event is free of charge. The organizers especially invite young people to actively participate, as they will shape the Internet of the future.

IGF Poland is a local Internet Governance Forum (IGF), operating within the framework of a global UN initiative. Its goal is to initiate and facilitate global discussions on the development of digital space and on current and key issues related to the functioning of the Internet. Last year's summit attracted a record number of more than 600 registered participants.
