Welcome Center at WMU open!

The Welcome Center has already become a viable spot on the UMW campus map. The official ribbon-cutting was performed by Prof. Piotr Ponikowski, UMW rector, and Vice-Rector for University Development Strategy Prof. Marzena Dominiak.

- The Welcome Center is the heart of UMW indicating our openness to internationalization. It is the place where any foreign visitor will be able to come and get acquainted with what is happening on campus, what to do, how to get around. It's a hub of internationalization that opens to all foreign students, employees and researchers. It's also a key part of our efforts to join the network of European Universities," enumerates Prof. Marzena Dominiak.

- The center is beginning its activities, and we believe that in addition to increasing the potential of our university in building institutional internationalization, this place will have a real impact on a more efficient flow of information and an increase in the quality of service to people from abroad, as well as positively influencing the integration process and broadening the competencies of both employees and students," says Magdalena Szymków-Cieniawska, head of the International Cooperation Department at UMW. - Ahead of us are the next stages of the Welcome to Poland project, in which we envision, among other things, the creation of a website dedicated to the Welcome Center point, as well as training for our university's employees in intercultural communication, she adds.

The direct tasks of the Welcome Center team include, in particular:

• Direct handling of cases of candidates for studies, postgraduate studies and doctoral schools at UMW,
• handling and support of cases of scholarship recipients of NAWA programs on full programs of study,
• providing information on legalization of stay, rules for undertaking and financing of studies for foreign students on full programs of study.

The Welcome Center is located on the ground floor of the CNiM building at 2-6 Marcinkowskiego Street and will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
