The Department and Clinical Department of Neurology conducts research in the following areas:

• Central and peripheral neurological complications of SARS-CoV2 infection, the impact of the pandemic on the course of nervous system diseases in electrophysiological, neuropsychological and imaging assessment.

• Genetically determined disorders with involvement of the nervous system (e.g. SMA, Fabry disease, Pompe disease) – clinical, electrophysiological and neuroimaging characteristics of the course of the disorder and effectiveness of modern therapies.

• Clinical and neurophysiological assessment of the central and peripheral nervous system in respiratory diseases, renal diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune diseases and otolaryngological disorders.

• Studies of biomarkers of the activity and progression of proliferative processes (gliomas), inflammatory-demyelinating processes (multiple sclerosis, CIDP) and neurodegenerative processes (including Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonisms)

• Assessment of cerebrovascular vasoreactivity, monitoring of hemodynamic changes in stroke. Monitoring the therapeutic effects of mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischaemic stroke.

• Migraine and other headaches and facial pain – clinical, neurophysiological, neuroimaging characteristics in relation to different forms of therapy.
