Autumn Gastrology Conference 2023

The 19^th Autumn Gastrology Conference - organised by the Student Scientific Association at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology under the direction of Dr. Radosław Kempinski and the International Student Council of our University – took place on 2^nd December 2023.

Students from medical schools from all over Poland, including international students, gave presentations, which were then evaluated Prof. Agnieszka Hałoń and Prof. Monika Biernat. During the conference, the inaugural lecture entitled: ‘The way to a man's heart is through his stomach - what does the gastroenterology have in common with the cardiology?’ was given by Dr. Gracjan Iwanek. Dr. Wojciech Pisarek then explained not only why it is worth becoming a gastroenterologist, but also how to do it. Finally, Dr Radosław Kempiński organised an endoscopy quiz.

A huge impression on all conference participants was made by a presentation by the ‘Clean up Oder’ group that is responsible for cleaning up the banks of the Oder. The amazing project - initiated by our ED students, combining care for the environment, cooperation, joy and integration of the university community, inspiring us all to take action - enthralled the participants of the event. Once again, the students showed how much we could learn from them.

The conference was held both in Polish and English. The projects presented by the students were of a high standard and done in an excellent manner. The conference gave its participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences within a group of like-minded people, in a joyful and collaborative environment.  

We are proud of the students of our University and we extend our congratulations to their representatives: Kuba Jarmołowicz and Hania Popiela.
