Orientation Day Welcomes New Medicine Students
On 29 September 2026, the Faculty of Medicine English Division at Wroclaw Medical University welcomed its newest students during Orientation Day, just ahead of the start of their studies on 1 October.
The new students were warmly greeted by Vice-Dean Prof. Katarzyna Neubauer and the English Division Team, who introduced them to the people, places and opportunities that will become part of their UMW life.
The programme included presentations by Prof. Zygmunt Domagała from the Department of Anatomy and Dean of the University’s Branch in Wałbrzych, who also serves as the 1st Year Academic Tutor, as well as Ms Katarzyna Kvapilikova from the Welcome Center, who shared practical guidance for settling into university life. Mr Kacper Panasiuk, ED Supervisor for the 1st year, introduced students to important rules, regulations and documents.
A special part of the day was dedicated to the student community. Representatives of the student body introduced themselves and welcomed the new class, while Mentors from the upper years met their newly assigned Mentees as part of the student-led Mentorship Programme. The programme was created and is led by 5th Year President Mr Ye Wai Yan (Alex), with senior students helping newcomers find their feet and become part of the community from the very beginning.
The day continued with a student-led campus tour and an introduction to the many events planned throughout Welcome Week, all organised by students. From getting to know the campus to meeting future friends and mentors, the Orientation Day gave the new class a first glimpse of life beyond the classroom.
We are delighted to welcome our new Medicine students to Wroclaw Medical University and wish them a wonderful start to their journey with us!
