Wykład prof. Roberta P. Skomro

Katedra i Klinika Angiologii i Chorób Wewnętrznych UMW zaprasza lekarzy oraz studentów na wykład pt. "Obturacyjny bezdech senny i choroby układu krążenia", który wygłosi prof. Robert P. Skomro. Spotkanie rozpocznie się w piątek, 28 lipca o godz. 10.30 w Uniwersyteckim Szpitalu Klinicznym przy ul. Borowskiej 213 (budynek H, II piętro, sala nr 3.48).

Prof. Robert P. Skomro jest pulmonologiem i uznanym na świecie specjalistą zaburzeń snu oraz chorób związanych z obturacyjnym bezdechem sennym (OBS). 

Tytuł lekarza uzyskał na Uniwersytecie Saskatchewan w Kanadzie, a doktora nauk medycznych na Uniwersytecie Medycznym we Wrocławiu. Jako początkujący naukowiec badania chorób snu prowadził m.in. pod kierownictwem prof. Meira Krygera oraz M. Younesa z Uniwerysytetu Manitoba.

Zatrudniony na stanowisku profesora i kierownika Katedry Pulmonologii, Intensywnej Terapii i Medycyny Chorób Snu Uniwersytetu Saskatchewan w Saskatoon (Kanada). Ponadto pełni funkcję wiceprezydenta Canadian Sleep Society (Kanadyjskiego Stowarzyszenia Badań nad Snem), przewodniczącego Komitetu ds. Snu i Oddychania w Canadian Thoracic Society oraz doradcy Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons.

Jest jednym z założycieli Kanadyjskiego Konsorcjum Badawczego Zaburzeń Snu (Canadian Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Network). Autor ponad 50 publikacji naukowych z zakresu pulmonologii i chorób snu. Prowadzi aktywny program badawczy, w którym koncentruje się na implikacjach nieleczonego OBS.

Department of Angiology and Internal Diseases would like to invite you to the open lecture that will be given by Prof. Robert P. Skomro, MD, PhD: Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Disease. The lecture will be held on July 28 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the lecture hall no 3.48, at the Directorate of the USK Borowska 213 (building H, second floor).

Prof. Robert Skomro, MD, PhD is a pulmonologist and sleep disorder specialist, Professor and Head of the Respirology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Department at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and Vice-President of the Canadian Sleep Society.

Prof. Skomro obtained his title of the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and then PhD at Wroclaw Medical University. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed a residency in internal medicine and pulmonology in Canada and fellowship in sleep medicine research under the direction of Prof. Meir Kryger and M. Younes at the University of Manitoba.  

Dr. Skomro is a recognized leader in sleep disorders and diseases related to obstructive sleep apnea, he was involved nationally in Canada as the Chair of Sleep and Breathing Committee at the Canadian Thoracic Society, as well as an advisor for the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr. Skomro is currently Vice President of Canadian Sleep Society and Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and the Director of Saskatchewan Health Authority Sleep Disorder Centre in Saskatoon. He is also one of the founding members of Candian Sleep and Circadian Network, CIHR funded development grant. Dr. Skomro has an active research program with a focus on implications of untreated OSA.
