A) Introduction to pediatric surgery​

  6. Malrotations and vulvulus​

A) Acute abdominal diseases​

  1. What are the symptoms of acute abdomen?

Urinary system:

  1. Hydrocele

  6. Other defects of the urinary system that require surgical consultation: Varicocele, Hydronephrosis, VUR (vesicoureteral reflux), Neurogenic bladder, PUV (posterior urethral valve), Hypospadias, Epispadias, bladder and cloacal extrophy

Lecture 5

A) Trauma:

  1. The most common injuries in children
  2. First aid in pediatric trauma (including wound debridement)
  3. Burns
  4. Post-traumatic shock - causes, diagnosis and treatment
  5. Child Abuse Syndrome

B) Solid tumors:

  1. Epidemiology of solid tumors in children
  2. Role of the pediatric surgeon in the oncological treatment
  3. Alarming symptoms and initial diagnosis: Nephroblastoma, Neuroblastoma, Soft tissue sarcomas, Bone tumors, Teratomas, Testicular tumors, Ovarian lesions, Hepatic tumors
  4. Rules of the correct biopsy

1. Exercises start at designated times according to the current schedule.

2. Criteria for passing the course:

2.1. Attendance at all classes

2.2. Passing the oral test conducted by the instructor during the last class in the semester.

 2.3. In case of absence from classes, they should be made up on the same day of the week with another group.

2.3. If you fail the test, a resit test takes place during a consultation with the didactic supervisor.

2.4. In the event of failure to pass the exam within the "resit" deadline, the next exam is held in the presence of a committee composed of the Head of the Department and Clinic, a didactic supervisor and an assistant conducting the classes.

3. In justified cases, it is possible to make up the exercise during a consultation with the didactic supervisor

4. In justified cases, classes may be held online (epidemiological threat); in this case, educational materials will be made available to students through the materials repository on the university's website. The Clinic does not provide presentations to students during stationary classes. The knowledge necessary to pass the course is included in the recommended literature specified in the course syllabus.

5. The student may change the group only after presenting written consent issued by the Dean's Office.

6. The student is obliged to meet the currently applicable sanitary and epidemiological recommendations.
