Main research areas:
  • Assessment of metabolic and hormonal disorders in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and their correlation with exposure to environmental factors, with particular emphasis on endocrine-active compounds;
  • Estimation of the severity of oxidative stress and inflammation and their impact on the magnitude of neuroinflammatory and demyelinating process disorders in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis;
  • Assessment of the combined effect of estrogens and environmental xenoestrogens in the pathogenesis of hormone-dependent cancers, especially breast cancer and ovarian cancer;
  • Assessment of the effects of selected xenoestrogens and hyperglycaemia on aromatase inhibitor activity in in vitro breast cancer model studies;
  • Assessment of the effect of lipotoxicity and selected drugs from the group of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors on the metabolism of fats and insulin in the cells of the nervous system;
  • Model studies of signaling pathways in neurotoxicity and excitotoxicity induced by selected chemical agents;
  • Modeling of neuropathological disorders in the vessel - generation and characterisation of brain organoids and assembloids with different regional identities;
  • Development and optimisation of an effective method of isolation and culture of neuronal and astrocytic cells obtained from frozen animal material;
  • Assessment of the effect of antiretroviral therapy on the development of comorbidities and disorders in people with HIV subjected to long-term antiretroviral therapy;
  • Assessment and evaluation of the diagnostic and prognostic usefulness of selected parameters
     in the diagnosis of urinary tract diseases (especially bladder);
  • The effect of protein glycation (especially albumin) on the binding of drugs most commonly used in the treatment of civilisation diseases based on multi-spectroscopic in vitro studies;
  • Assessment of the correlation between intestinal microbiota metabolites (trimethylamine N-oxide, p-cresol and indoxyl) and the clinical manifestation of cardiovascular diseases;
  • Development and validation of methods for the determination of L-arginine metabolites using the LC-MS technique and evaluation of its use in patients with myocardial infarction;
  • Untargeted Metabolomic Analysis as a tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of various disease entities.
  • Assessment of the participation of selected xenobiotics in redox imbalance in people exposed to the environment and assessment of predictors of those disorders;
  • Assessment of glucotoxicity and prooxidative potential of selected xenobiotics based on selected markers of those processes in in vivo and ex vivo studies and assessment of the protective effect of some compounds of natural origin.
