SPEAKERS

Prof. Mounir Tarek (France) is a Senior Research Director at the CNRS-Université de Lorraine, a recipient of a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Paris in 1994. He joined the CNRS after a four-year tenure at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (Gaithersburg Maryland USA) following three years of tenure at the University of Pennsylvania). His research focus and expertise lie in studying cell membrane transport processes. It involves using computational chemistry methods to study membranes, proteins, ion channels, and membrane transport proteins. Over the last few years, he studied many aspects of the electroporation of cell membranes subject to high electric fields. Lecture „Ions, membranes and channels: from the quantum level to continuum modeling”

Prof. Vitalij Novickij

Prof. Vitalij Novickij (Lithuania) is the Director of the Institute of High Magnetic Fields (VilniusTECH) and Head of the Department of Immunology (Centre for Innovative Medicine). He specializes in high-power electronics and electromagnetic radiation and its effects on biological objects, with a high focus on electroporation in the context of drug and gene delivery. Since 2013 he co-authored more than 90 scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals with impact factor (CA WoS). Some of the developed generators right now are distributed to 7 laboratories world-wide incl. University of Ljubljana, Wroclaw Medical University, Old Dominion University, University of California, etc.

Lecture „New modalities of electroporation for drug and gene delivery: MHz bursts versus contactless high magnetic fields

Prof. Joe Modise

Prof. Joe Modise (South Africa) is the Head of the Biotechnology and Chemistry department at the Vaal University of Technology, South Africa. His research team focuses on the Indigenous Knowledge Systems, which incorporate traditional medicine, clothing, and food. The traditional medicine and its knowledge are embedded in the traditional healers and communities. The healers and various communities approach the researchers with different plant materials and concoctions for validation and further tests. The validation of various plants’ capability of treating different ailments in the current era and historically is conducted by his team. The research involves treatments for tuberculosis, cancerous ailments, and inflammatory diseases.

Lecure „Phytochemical screening of selected African medicinal plants identified for use against fibrosis tumor

Nguyen Viet Hoai

Nguyen  Viet Hoai, PhD (Vietnam)  is the Head of Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology, and Environment, Research Center for Environmental Monitoring and Modeling, Vietnam National University. His research team specializes in materials and their applications in Biochemistry and Environment. He focuses on carbon nanomaterials, silver nanoparticles, and carbon quantum dots.

Lecture “Nanomaterials and their applications in Biochemistry and Environment in Asia

Robert Kaplanek

Robert Kaplanek, Eng.PhD (Czech Republic) is a senior researcher at 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague/BIOCEV in the Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry. He receives Ph.D. in Organic chemistry at University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. His research is focused on metal chelators and derivatives of natural compounds as novel cytostatics, epigeneticaly active compounds, anti-Alzheimer’s, antimicrobial and antimycobacterial drugs.

Lecture „Hydrazones: simple yet powerful bioactive compounds
